Founding and Regulation

The laboratory "Glossa Contact Lab"  was founded in April 2024 and serves teaching, academic, research and training needs on the subjects of :

  • diachronic comparative linguistics
  • the diachrony of ancient and modern languages, with a special focus on English and Greek
  • interdisciplinary approaches on comparative/diachronic linguistics
  • computational applications for comparative/ diachronic linguistic analysis
  • the role of inter-lingual and intra-lingual translations & re-translations on language contact and change

 

Aims:

The aims of the 'Glossa Contact Lab' include covering the research-related and instruction-oriented needs of the Faculty of Language-Linguistics both regarding the undergraduate and also the post-graduate programs in terms of issues related to diachronic and synchronic studies of language contact in Greek and English, written language contact and language change, computational application on comparative/diachronic studies. 

The lab aims to engage in different kinds of collaborations with Greek and international Institutions, as well as with public or private international centres. 
In addition, opening avenues of further collaboration with other Laboratories, Research Centers and like-minded Institutions in Greece and abroad are at the core of the Lab's ambitions and efforts.

The Lab is constantly pursuing to undertake (either independently or in collaboration with other Institutions) research projects/ programs, and/ or to manage and support Postgraduate Programs, publishing compendiums, scientific issues and journals, as well as invited talks of well-established Greek and international scientists.
